A nine patch, 72" x 72"
I made this quilt using silk dupioni. It was inspired when having lunch with a friend at a local deli. She was talking away and all the time I was thinking about how I could turn this design into a quilt. I don't work in a regimented manner or to put it another way, I fly by the seat of my pants. When other quilters saw it during my visits to quilt guilds, they wanted to learn how to make it. I must admit, it is a stunner, especially when it is made using silk.
To be able to offer it as a workshop, I had to reverse engineer it. This is how I ended up learning about acrylic templates. I chose to have it "Made in America" and found a wonderful company that was willing to work with me. I sent them a paper drawing and I received my first prototype and that was the beginning of my cool new tool.
